The UNHCR assisted voluntary repatriation operation of Afghanistan refugees from Pakistan will continue till the end of October, this year, a UNHCR press release said this here on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, denying the rumours about the suspension of UNHCR's assistance to carry out the operation the press release clearly said that this is not true, rather UNHCR will continue its help till October for those registered Afghans, who want to return home. Moreover it said that after October, UNHCR would suspend its operation for the usual winter break and resume it again in spring 2009.
Furthermore, it mentioned that an average expenditure for each repatriate is estimated about $100. The press release said that those interested, can approach UNHCR's Voluntary Repatriation Centres (VRCs) in Hayatabad, Peshawar NWFP and Baleli in Balochistan to register themselves and go through the IRIS verification test before departing for Afghanistan.
