More than 1.159 million children of under five-year age would be administered polio vaccine and vitamin A drops during the ongoing anti-Polio drive which would be remained continue till 8th May.
EDO Health Captain Dr Muhammad Siddique informed this at inaugural ceremony of the campaign at District HQ Hospital. Principal Punjab Medical College Professor Asgar Ali Randhawa inaugurated the anti-polio drive by administering the polio vaccine and vitamin A drops to the children.
EDO Health said that total numbers of 2742 health department teams were performing duties of administering vaccination, out of which 204 teams were stationed at Airport, Bus/Wagon Stands, Hospitals/Health Centres, Motorway inter-change, busy markets and other important points in the city to administer the polio vaccine drops to those children who were travelling or visiting markets with their parents.
He told that the district had been divided into 436 areas and 71 supervisors were appointed for monitoring the campaign. He appealed the parents to extend cooperation with the health department teams and get their children of under five-year age vaccinated against the virus of polio even if they had taken this vaccine earlier so many times.
He asked the people to inform through toll free No 0800 12012 if the health department team did not visit any area. District Health Officer Dr Rana Imran Ali Khan said that district Faisalabad was polio free since last four year, however the anti-polio campaign was being conducted repeatedly to root out this disease from the Pakistan.
Medical Superintendent DHQ Hospital Dr Imtiaz Hamid, Dr Asgar Butt, Dr Munir Subhani, Dr Maqool Elahi, Dr Muhammad Nawaz, Dr Waseem Bhatti, Dr Athar Waheed, Dr Riaz Khan, Dr Bilal, Ihsanullah Khalid Parvaiz, Anees-ur-Rehman and representatives of different health departments were also present on the occasion.
Meanwhile, EDO Health Captain Dr Muhammad Siddique during a meeting asked the zonal supervisors and area incharges to perform their duties regarding anti-polio campaign with full-commitment despite present hot weather. He directed that the approved micro plan should be implemented in letter and spirit so that no child of under five year age be left without taking polio vaccine drops in the district.
