A seminar on 'Japanese Style of Management' was held at Defence Authority College of Business here on Monday. Professor Toshio Fujita was the keynote speaker on the occasion. He in his discourse traced the origin of the Japanese management system in light of historical, geographical and cultural perspective of Japan.
He compared the key dimensions of Japanese and Western management systems such as planning, decision making and communication etc. Based on the observations of his rich international experience of working and teaching including that of Pakistan, the Professor figured out some similarities in Japanese and Pakistani culture and management style.
He, however, urged the students not to prefer one management system over the other. He said the best way forward for them was to find out what their own system was and to constantly endeavour to improve it by using their and others' experiences.
He termed active observation, quick comparison and dynamic decision-making process as the key pillars of a successful and effective management system. At the end, College Principal Tariq Kaleem thanked the visiting professor and presented to him the College crest.-PR
