Plan to give modern look to hospitals across AJK

AJK government has kicked off an integrated plan to benefit the common man with quick and quality medical facilities close to their door-steps through the public sector hospitals, RHCs and BHus throughout Azad Jammu Kashmir including in remote and far-flung areas, official sources said.
The broad-based health care development plan involved furnishing of all public-sector district and tehsil headquarter hospitals with latest equipment and instruments and medicines harmonious to the need of the modern age, the sources told APP here Wednesday.
All the hospitals at remote areas including tehsil headquarters will be made operational to ensure provision of the quick medical aid to the aspirants close to their door-steps under the broad-based plan, the sources said adding that the plan also involved the face-lifting of the district hospitals in Mirpur, Kotli and Bhimbher districts of this division.
The sources continued that since District HQ hospitals at Mirpur, Muzaffarabad and Kotli were extending best possible medical facilities to the people, similar facilities will also be made available in the district and tehsil hospitals in all other district and tehsil headquarters coupled with induction of specialist doctors on rotation basis for a set time-frame.
Under the recent government policy every specialist doctor shall have to perform his or her duties in concerned hospitals as tehsil headquarters and remote areas for the stipulated period. The government would provide transport facilities for their movement and from their places of duty, he said.
An effective policy would also be evolved to improve the performance of the public sector hospitals harmonious to the need of the masses only through consolidation of the problems of the doctors and the public.
The sources indicated that in order to extend latest medical cover to the population of rural and far-flung areas, all rural health centres and basic health units were being furnished with latest equipment, medicines and the required medical staff.
In view of the increased population various RHCs and BHUs were proposed to be upgraded. he said that all tehsil HQ hospitals were being made operational to reduce the raising influx of the patients in the District Hospitals.
The AJK government has applauded the extra-ordinary role of various local and foreign NGOs for their active participation in reconstruction and rehabilitation process in earthquake-hit areas besides for serving other sick humanity in the liberated territory through contributing in various health-care projects in the area.
