Rising economic growth benefited every section of society: Singh

Recounting the successes of his coalition government, Indian Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh has said that the economic growth averaging almost nine percent in the last few years has benefited every section of society and has also enabled the government to raise the required allocations to social development programmes.
According to Indian Express website, the prime minister, who was speaking at a meeting in Bangalore, also said that the tax-GDP ratio had risen to almost 10 percent while ensuring tax rates remain moderate. "On the economic front, in spite of the recent worries on inflation, our record has been a stellar one," Singh was quoted as saying.
The Prime Minister said the last four years have seen UPA government putting in place the architecture needed for inclusive growth. In this context, he mentioned the National Rural Employment Guarantee Act, the National Rural Health Mission, Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan, Jawaharlal Nehru Urban Renewal Mission, Bharat Nirman and Aam Aadmi Bima Yojana, according to the newspaper.
