Khokhar seeks relief under NRO

10 May, 2008

Former deputy speaker National Assembly Nawaz Muhammad Khokhar has approached the Lahore High Court, seeking relief under the National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO) against punishment in a reference.
Khokhar said the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) had filed a reference against him on December 15, 1996, charged with illegally transferring 150 Kanal of common land (shamlat) in his name in Loi Bher village in Islamabad. The court then in 2004 had given him three years' imprisonment and disqualified him for 10 years from holding a public office. His petition will restart on May 12.
