Punjab Chief Minister Dost Muhammad Khosa has said that in the future "we can run our country only by independence of the judiciary". In his speech to members of the Farozewala district bar on the eve of oath taking ceremony, he said.
"Our country is in crisis and hence lawyers and the people of Pakistan should strengthen and back up the government with the same zeal as they struggled for the independence of the judiciary." Replying to the slogans of bar members he said that removal of Musharraf has become his fate, and added that the lawyers should not slow down their struggle.
He said: "Our government is facing the financial indiscipline of former government and due to its wrong and criminal economic acts it had dragged the country into darkness."
He said that the last government specially ignored the poor people of Punjab, and added that they created food, health, wheat crisis and failed to maintain law and order in the country as they instead of acting for the welfare of people of Pakistan toe the policies of a dictator.
Khosa said: "We will at least try to provide better and peaceful atmosphere to the people, and it would take some time to pull out the country from present crisis created by the former government." Federal Minister Tanveer Husain said that the former government's criminal act did not mention billions of rupees in budget. He said: "Our stance is familiar to the stance of the lawyers, and PML-N is firm on its stance of independence of judiciary and reinstatement of the deposed judges."
He told Khosa to take all necessary steps to remove difficulties created by the former government against the people. He also asked the chief minister to take necessary steps to remove the administrative lapses taken by the former government in district Sheikhupura. Khosa later went to the home of MPA Iqbal with MNA Riaz and praised PML-N workers for their struggle in the past eight years.
