KBP warns government

The Kisan Board Pakistan (KBP) has warned the government not to procure wheat from the growers forcibly. Secretary General Jam Hazur Bukhsh in a statement issued on Friday said previous rulers had made a claim to procure every grain of wheat from the growers but gifted flour crisis to the nation and now present rulers were forcibly hunting wheat from the farmers.
He claimed that the food department was contacting farmers through patwaris. He said farmers would not sell their wheat to the government and it should avoid forcibly procuring wheat from the farmers. He said that the government should lay off corrupt officers of food department.
He alleged that such people deprive farmers of Rs 1 billion per annum on excuse of less weight and a cut of two kilogram on a bag. He said small farmers should not be harassed rather government should expose influential persons involved in smuggling and award them exemplary punishment.
