Sindh Minister for Wildlife Dr Daya Ram Lassarani has directed the department officials to maintain 33 Wildlife sanctuaries, 13 game reserves and of Kirthar National Park properly, so as to protect Wild life in these areas.
He issued these directives while addressing a briefing of the department at his office here Tuesday. The minister said that every effort should be made for preservation and protection of scenery, fauna and flora in Kirthar National Park that is spread over an area of 1192 square miles.
"It should also be ensured that visiting naturalists, anthropologists, archaeologists, geologists, botanists and zoologists are provided with proper guidance during their visits of this park," the minister further directed. Dr Ram, while reviewing the development of Kirthar Protected Area Complex (KPAC), also said that work on Rs 499.9 million project would be started soon.
He also directed Conservators, Deputy Conservators, Game Wardens, Game Officers, Game Inspectors, and Game Watchers to ensure protection and preservation of protected species of animals and other fauna and flora in Kirthar National Park, Sanctuaries and game reserves.
He appreciated the establishment of official website of the department and asked the officials to ensure its updating, regularly. The feedback portion on the website should also be made more effective as it was essential to obtain views from people visiting the website for further improvement in the department, the minister observed.
He warned that no negligence or slackness would be tolerated in the department and those involved in any sort of corruption will not be spared. The minister said he would conduct surprise visits of wildlife sanctuaries, game reserves and Kirthar National Park to personally monitor the performance of the officers and staff of the department.-PR
