In the ongoing province-wide drive against smuggling, another 3 trucks and 5 trolleys loaded with fresh stock of wheat were seized in Pakpattan on Tuesday.
District Coordination Officer, Pakpattan, Saeed Iqbal Wahla told APP this afternoon by telephone that special check-posts have been established on the directive of Chief Secretary Punjab Javed Mahmood, on all inter city routes of district Pakpattan to check the illegal transportation of wheat.
He said that all farmers are being facilitated for the sale of their crop at procurement centres across the district, and that he is personally visiting the centres for first hand information about the conduct of the procurement process and behaviour of staff.
The DCO said that over 300,000 large sized bags of wheat have so far been procured during the current season and hoped to achieve the procurement target well in time.
