Senior puisne judge of the High Court of Sindh (SHC), Justice Azizullah M. Memon on Thursday took oath as the Acting Chief Justice of the High Court. Earlier, Chief Justice of SHC, Justice Muhammad Afzal Soomro took oath as Judge of the Federal Shariat Court (FSC).
According to the notification of Law and Justice Division, in exercise of powers offered by the clause (2) of Article 203 C of the constitution of Islamic Republic of Pakistan, the President is pleased to appoint Justice Muhammad Afzal Soomro as judge of the Federal Shariat Court for a period of one year with immediate effect.
Sindh Governor, Dr Ishrat-ul-Ibad Khan administered the oaths to both the judges for their offices at a simple ceremony held at Governor House here. Justice Azizullah M. Memon took the oath as Acting Chief Justice of SHC due to appointment of the SHC Chief Justice, Justice Muhammad Afzal Soomro as judge of the FSC.
Governor administered oath on behalf of President Pervez Musharraf to Justice Muhammad Afzal Soomro as Judge of FSC Judge of SHC, Federal Secretary Law, Advocate General Sindh and other notables attended the oath taking ceremony.
