President Lahore High Court Bar Association, (Mulan Registry), Mehmood Ashraf Khan has rejected the proposed constitutional package for restoration of the deposed judges. Addressing the protest rally, which was organised by lawyers for restoration of deposed judges, he said that they would not accept any constitutional package.
He termed Justice (deposed) Iftikhar Chaudhary as a legitimate and constitutional chief justice of Pakistan. He resolved that the lawyers' struggle would be continue till supremacy of law, constitution, and restoration and independence of judiciary.
He opposed SCBA president's move to take part in the by-election, saying PPP has backtracked from its promise. Inviting PML-N chief Mian Nawaz Sharif to join lawyers' struggle he urged him to play its role in the movement for restoration of judiciary.
Lauding the decision of PML-N chief of pulling out his party's minister from federal cabinet, Mehmood Ashraf said that for the first time in the history of the country a political party pursued politics of principles and kicked the ministries away.
President District Bar Association Najaf Chawan said that the lawyers would intensify their struggle by forging more unity in their ranks for achievement of their objectives. The participants of the rally were holding black flags and placards inscribed with pro-judiciary and anti-Musharraf slogans.
