'Chambers asked to hold programmes on SMEs'

Senior Punjab Minister Raja Riaz Ahmed has said that different chambers of commerce and industry should hold special programmes in Lahore as well as other cities for safeguarding the interests of small and medium enterprises and apprising them of new techniques of business.
He expressed these views while addressing the concluding ceremony of a two-day "SME Fair 2008" under the aegis of Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry. He also said it is need of the hour that Pakistani business organisations and traders should understand the demands of the globalisation in the light of WTO and bring their business at par with the multinationals, he added.
According to him, small enterprises are of great importance and their encouragement would not only result in formation of big organisations but business community of the country will also flourish. Raja Riaz described holding of two-day fair for the training and guidance of owners of the small and medium enterprises by LCCI as a good omen.
