Agriculture field UAF, SQU cooperation to open horizon of success

Ambassador of Oman Mohammad Bin Said Bin Mohammad Al-Lawati has said that mutual co-operation between University of Agriculture, Faisalabad and Sultan Qabous University (SQU) Oman will open new horizon of success in the field of agricultural research and training a robust manpower.
He said this while addressing the annual function of international club of the university here at new senate hall of the university. He said that both the institutions will further harness the mutual ties to meet the emerging challenges of WTO standards in general and in the field of food security in particular.
He revealed that by signing the MoU between University of Agriculture, Faisalabad and Sultan Qabous Univeristy (SQU), both institutions will open new paradigms for producing well trained manpower and co-operation in R and D.
Ambassador of Republic of Yemen His Excellency Abdul Elah M Hajar termed the recently signed MoU between Sana University Yemen and UAF a milestone in order to strengthen research and educational ties between both the countries. He urged the need for mutual co-operation and reciprocal students and faculty exchange programme.
Vice Chancellor, UAF Professor Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan in his address as chief guest, said that UAF has signed more than 50 MoUs with national and international organisations so as to conduct integrated and collaborated research. He said that UAF has to expand its PhD programme to other Muslim countries, in this regard Sultan Qabous University will send students for conducting their PhD research at UAF.
Dr Iqrar told that UAF has produced more than 40 thousand graduates in agriculture and allied disciplines. He said that UAF has the honour to host more than 30 students every year for their 2 credit hours course. He stressed the need for capitalising and transforming the knowledge into technology for benefiting the end-user.
Syed Bashir Sadaat, second secretary Afghan commission in Pakistan, PO, Students' Affairs Professor Dr Iftikhar Ahmad Khan, Foreign Students Advisor Professor Dr Muhammad Younis, Sadaruddin Siraj and others also spoke on the occasion.
