Ministry's directives to hit Karachi trade: KESC

The Karachi Electric Supply Corporation (KESC) has said the directives of the water and power ministry would negatively affect business and trade in the metropolis, however, the load shedding duration can be reduced in residential areas.
Talking to a private TV channel, KESC Executive Director Tanzeem Naqvi said that Wapda provides 20 percent of the power demand of Karachi. He said the KESC was compelled to abide by the directives of the water and power ministry though the complete implementation of these would only help save 60MW. He said 100MW can be saved daily with the change of weekly off day in Karachi factories from Sunday to alternate days and careful use of air-conditioners in the metroplis.
