The government will prepare a comprehensive national health policy after consultation with all stakeholders, said Federal Minister for Health Sherry Rehman. A Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) spokesman quoting the health having a meeting with a PMA delegation that Rehman had said a task force on health policy has been formed, which is actively working on the formulation of Health Policy for the country.
The aim of the policy is to strengthen the existing systems and create linkages between preventive and curative referrals. When the delegation members drew the attention of the minister towards quacks, Sherry said she has already asked the provincial governments to take stern action against uncertified medical practitioners and bring them to book.
"The government will not tolerate counterfeit drug manufacturers and quackery to play with the health and lives of innocent people," she said. "All-out efforts will be made to increase health expenditure over the next five years to make healthcare facilities not only accessible but also affordable to the poor." The delegation members then told the minister about various issues being faced by the health sector.
