Taseer takes oath as governor Punjab

Salmaan Taseer took oath as 27th Governor of Punjab here on Friday. Lahore High Court Chief Justice Syed Zahid Hussain administered the oath. Deeply associated with late Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto, founder chairman of PPP, Salmaan also wrote a biographical memory of ZAB.
Remembering old days, Taseer said he used to come to governor house on bicycle. Taseer declared open doors of governor house for general public and said that it would be 'Awami Governor House'. Referring to Benazir and late ZAB, Salmaan said that they were alive in the hearts of the masses and pledged to turn entire Punjab into Larkana.
He said that that he was well aware of the intricacies of democracy and nobody could teach him lesson on that. He said there was no last defeat and victory in politics. Politics was a long journey, he declared.
The new Governor while referring to relations with the PPP said he would be representing the party in the Governor House. All the parties including PML-Q, PML-N would be treated equally in my tenure as governor, he added.
Governor House echoed with slogans 'zinda hai Bhutto zinda hai','Charoon soobon ki zangeer Benazir Benazir', during the oath taking ceremony. Salmaan also raised party slogans in pure Punjabi dialect. He appreciated the services of outgoing Governor Lieutenant General Khalid Maqbool (Retd) and said that he had rendered very useful services for the province during his tenure.
Khalid Ahmad Kharal, Ghulam Abbas, Dr Salman Shah, Khurshid Mahmood Kasuri, Malik Hakmeen, Raja Riaz Mian Ameen, Sajjad Bhatti, Zulqarnain Raja, Mani Pehlwan, Navid Chaudhry and a large number of party workers were present on the occasion.
