The government of Sindh has prepared gender bias ending draft bill for presenting it in the upcoming provincial assembly session, which could make the women harassment liable to punishments of 30 days jail and a penalty of Rs 0.5 million.
According to a private TV channel, Member Sindh Assembly, Humaira Alwani told that this bill aims at providing protection to the women outside their houses, at their working places and offices. The bill envisages punishments of 30 days imprisonment besides a fine of Rs 0.5 million for women harassment.
The affected woman could lodge complaint to the Civil District Judge. Civil District Judge through the Nazim of the concerned Union Council would send the complaint to head of the relevant organisation or office, which in turn would submit its enquiry report within 30 days by constituting a three-member committee including one woman member to the District Judge. After hearing both the parties District Judge will announce its decision, which could be appealed in the High Court.
