Malaysian share prices closed 0.5 percent higher on Friday led by industrial, oil and gas and plantation stocks following Wall Street's overnight gains, dealers said. The Kuala Lumpur Composite Index was up 6.52 points at 1,300.67 on volume of 568 million shares worth 1.2 billion ringgit (370.3 million dollars) while advancers led decliners 407 to 255 and 262 stocks were unchanged.
Among index heavyweights, national power company Tenaga was up 0.10 ringgit at 6.95 ringgit and Telekom Malaysia was flat at 3.50 while Malayan Banking climbed 0.05 to 7.70 on bargain-hunting after recent sharp losses.
