Bid to burn criminals in Orangi Town foiled

The enraged Karachiites on Monday as well tried to burn two alleged street criminals in Orangi Town area but the police foil the bid, said police officials.
The incident took place at Raja Tanvir Colony of Orangi Town where the enraged mob brutally tortured two mobile snatchers and attempted to burn them alive when they were caught red-handedly by the area residents.
The cops posted at Tori Bangash Chowki of the area rushed the scene and recovered the suspects from the mob. The suspects were latter shifted to nearby hospital in view of their serious condition.
Moreover, police also claimed to arrest two suspects involved in street crimes after a brief encounter from Garden area while one of their accomplice managed to flee the scene.
According to police sources, the encounter held near Baloch Hotel at Siddique Wahab Road, Garden where three street criminals were snatching mobile phones and other valuables of the pedestrians.
Police rushed the scene and arrested Abdul Karim Baloch alias Abdullah and Saddam Hussain after a brief encounter while one of their accomplice Shehzad Pathan escaped the scene.
Police also recovered one mouser, one TT, two magazines with six bullets and a snatched motorcycle (No KBO-5531) from detainees' possession. The mob gathered the scene demanded the police to hand over the detainees to them. Scuffling also witnessed among the enraged crowd and the police personnel.
Meanwhile, a former worker of Mohajir Qaumi Movement (MQM-Haqiqi) was shot dead at Jacobline area. Zahid Ali s/o Murtaza, 40, was assassinated while he was heading to his office in morning hours. The deceased was an employee of Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KWSB) and remained an activist of MQM-Haqiqi in past.
