The Islamabad High Court (IHC) here on Monday adjourned till June 4 hearing of former interior minister Aftab Ahmed Khan Sherpao's writ petitions regarding cases pending with the accountability court, Rawalpindi.
A Division Bench comprising Justice Mohammad Munir Paracha and Justice Syed Qalb-i-Hassan adjourned the hearing with a direction to the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) to apprise it about transfer and appointment of judge of t he trial court.
The former minister had filed three writ petitions in the IHC. On May 6, the same bench had accepted Sherpao's plea requesting exemption from personal appearance at the Accountability Court, Rawalpindi. The hearing of two other petitions was adjourned with the direction to NAB to submit reply. His counsel had pleaded that the cases had been pending for a long time with the Accountability Court, Rawalpindi, as the judge had been transferred.
He prayed to the court to issue notice to NAB over delay in appointment of a judge to hear his cases. Separately, a Single Bench comprising IHC Chief Justice Sardar Mohammad Aslam directed the education ministry to regularise the services of three contract female teachers. Naveed Tahira, Nadia Sharif, and Nazia Siddiqui had filed writ petitions through their counsels, Ali Murad Baloch, advocate, and Shoaib Shaheen, advocate.
