Higher prices kept the major players on the sidelines on the grain wholesale market on Wednesday, dealers said.Commodity and food analysts said that the prices of all essentials during the last several months remained on the upside and this factor pushes out the genuine buyers from the market.
The buyers, in the other words, hoarders, who were heaping up daily use items or commodities in their godowns, now have started bothering about the falling trend in daily intake, observers said. One thing very interesting to note was in Wednesday's trading the continued rise in the wheat prices. Wheat old and new both were down by Rs 50 to Rs 2150-2165, they noted.
On the grams side, it looks like magic. For almost all items tended lower due to easy supplies. Gram garda Punjab inferior type lost Rs 50 to Rs 4150 and better type was down by Rs 100 to Rs 4400. Gram garda dal fell by Rs 100 to Rs 5200-5500. Yellow peas Canada low type shed Rs 100 to Rs 3800- and the best type went down by Rs 150 to Rs 4050.
Dal yellow peas inferior type was lower by Rs 200 to Rs 4100 and good type lost Rs 250 to Rs 4250. Beetle chana No 1 shed Rs 100 to Rs 4300 and 4600, beetle 50x50 followed suit and shed the same amount at Rs 4200-4500 and dal beetle fell and lost the same amount to Rs 5200-5500, they said.
On the seed side cottonseed oilcake with bag old, better type shed Rs 50 to Rs 800, while the low type did not move any side at Rs 750. Cottonseed oilcake with bag Punjab new low type shed Rs 25 to Rs 825 and good type was down by Rs 30 to Rs 870. And cottonseed oilcake with bag Sindh new low type shed Rs 20 to Rs 900 and good type lost Rs 25 to Rs 925, they added.
