QUETTA: Following the suit of Ormara town in Gwadar District , Kharan city of Balochistan has also barred men from styling beard calling it a blasphemous act.
Assistant Commissioner Kharan, Muhammad Baksh Sajdi issued the notification on May 29 that bans trimming of beard in fashionable styles.
According to the notice approved, the barbers will be fined heavy penalty if they will violate the orders and are only allowed to cut the beard in simplest look.
According to BBC Urdu, the ban on styling beard was limited to vicinity of the city only, as it has been withdrawn by the directives of the government.
Baksh Sajdi said that the ban was notified after a local religious scholar complained about Muslim men styling beard and called it a ‘blasphemous act’.
Earlier when similar ban was imposed in Ormara, Chairman Municipal of the city Amir Iqbal has asked the barbers to abstain from trimming the customer’s beard in different styles and thus from blasphemy, The News reported.
Kharan is a district headquarters with a population of more than 7,000.
