Indian sugar futures fell for a fourth day on Thursday, taking cues from sluggish spot demand after rains in some regions drove bulk buyers like ice cream and beverage makers away. At 4:05 pm (1035 GMT), the June contract was down 0.43 percent at 1,402 rupees ($32.7) per 100 kg on the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, while the July contract dropped 0.55 percent to 1,452 rupees.
In Kolhapur, a key market in the western state of Maharashtra, spot prices eased by 7.4 rupees to 1,404.70. "Prices will remain under pressure. There is no festival or marriage season in the next few weeks," said Veeresh Hiremath, an analyst with Karvy Comtrade Ltd.
