Senior Minister Punjab Raja Riaz Ahmad has said that use of computer technology in the field of education, medicine and business activities can help in enhancing Pakistan's trade prospects in the global trade market. The Minister stated this while addressing a function at a local computer institute here on Friday.
He also said computer technology can also be helpful in promoting business concerns which in return, will promote economic activities at the large scale. IT is the key to success, in 21st century, he added. According to him, the IT sector has the potential to strengthen and expand the national economy.
Computer education also helps students to launch their own small scale business and the youth, instead of looking for government sector jobs, should think of setting up small scale IT related businesses. The students should set up their own software houses, develop new software and help enhance the IT exports of Pakistan.
IT is also pivotal in attaining good governance. There is a great need to develop co-ordination between IT institutions and business and industrial bodies and computer programmes should be utilised for developing industrial sector on modern lines.
"The Punjab government is striving for the promotion of IT education and institutions are fully encouraged to arrange research activities for the students. Private Institutions should also give scholarship to deserving students and help to promote education in the remote hinterlands. Computer education could bring about a positive revolution in economic conditions of Pakistan by stimulating the growth of business environment," he observed.
