Shopkeepers should be allowed to close shops on Friday or Sunday, because influx of customers varies due to location of markets at various places, said Muhammad Ijaz Abbasi, President Islamabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry addressing a meeting at ICCI.
He said that government should give flexibility to shopkeepers to close markets on Friday or Sunday as per the requirements of the markets, because at some places inflow of customer is totally zero on Sundays, which will have a bad impact on business activity.
He said the business community is ready to support government program for conservation of energy adopting a number of measures announced by the government, but at the same time, government should also consider the problems of the business community which is already under great pressure.
With change of time from the next month, will help the government to save electricity, but at the same time it will adversely affect the business activity because as per new timings, shops will actually close at 8,O clock, President ICCI said.
The labour working in markets and shops will face problems because with less timings and would not be able to earn enough who are already in a difficult situation with unprecedented price hike, Abbasi said. ICCI president said that unnecessary lights in markets, parks, highways, streets, housing and commercial projects and recreation places should be remain switched off.
