Private enterprises urged to come forward in education sector

Speaker Sindh Assembly Nisar Ahmed Khuhro has urged the new generation to strive hard for development of the country by realising the dreams of the nation.
Addressing the 2nd Convocation of Institute of Business and Technology (Biztek) as chief guest here on Friday, he said that education is on the top of government's priorities list, adding that a new education policy is being framed to ensure provision of quality education to all segments of society.
Khuhro praised private enterprises in contributing towards national economy and creating new employment opportunities, urging them to come forward in education sector as well. He said that the youths of the country are very competent and they know how to lead the country. "What we need just to educate them in a manner so that they could compete the world," he observed.
Biztek Chancellor Noman Abid Lakhani in his address, said that the institute is doing its best to provide quality education at very low cost to students without any discrimination. Noman said that the institute has close linkages and inked MoUs with the various foreign institutes and universities to enhance academic cooperation.
He urged the government to take, what he said, practical steps to promote education in the country and increase literacy rate. He announced that the construction work at Biztek's new campus would be started soon.
Later, some 149 students were conferred degrees in various disciplines in the convocation. Honorary Ph.D. degrees (Doctor of Philosophy-Honoris Causa) were awarded to Siraj Qasim Teli, S. M. Munir and Aqeel Karim Dedhi in acknowledgement of their services towards society.
Excellence Awards were also awarded to the following personalities to honour their efforts for their respective communities: Shaukat Tareen, Aziz Memon, Masood Naqi, Sirajuddin Aziz, S. Khalid Tawwab, Majyd Aziz Balgamwala, Tanvir Ahmed Shiekh, Arif Habib, Jehangir Siddiqui, Hassan A. Attar, Mazhar-ul-Haq Siddiqui and Mian Zahid Hussain. Among others, a number of provincial ministers, diplomats, civil servants and leaders of business community attended the ceremony.
