No polio case so far detected in Punjab this year

No polio case has been detected in Punjab during the last five months of current calendar year, Director General Health, Punjab; Dr Muhammad Aslam Chaudhry said here on Saturday. He, however, advised parents to continue extending co-operation in vaccination of children below five-year of age during every polio eradication campaign.
Aslam expressed satisfaction over the co-operation of parents with the polio teams. He said that there is growing awareness among the masses about the crippling disease, which is a good sign.
He directed Director CDC Dr Zia-ur-Rehman to establish special counters at railway stations, bus stands, and airport for polio coverage of passenger children for ensuring a polio-free Punjab. He said it is necessary to administer polio drops to the children below five year of age in every campaign in respective of their earlier administration of polio drops.
