The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Committee tasked to examine the Pakistan Peoples Party's Constitutional Package has finalised its recommendations and would present them to party chief Mian Nawaz Sharif on Friday.
The committee meeting held at Punjab House here on Thursday with its chairman Raja Zafarul Haq in the chair and attended by Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, Ahsan Iqbal, Khawaja Haris and Zaheer Adocvate.
Talking to reporters following the meeting, PML-N Secretary Information Ahsan Iqbal said that the legal experts of the PML-N have examined and finalised the recommendations to be included in the proposed constitutional package submitted by the PPP. "The committee reviewed the draft clause by clause and added its recommendations for inclusion", he maintained.
He said that recommendations of the committee would now be presented to the party leadership on Friday for final approval and ultimately it would be submitted to the PPP's leadership.
Ahsan reiterated PML-N would include the reinstatement of the deposed judges in the package and would continue its efforts till restoration of judiciary as per the Murree Declaration signed by the two major parties.
To a question, Ahsan Iqbal said that the constitutional package could be finalised in a single day and the deposed judges could be reinstated without further delay if the coalition partners want to do so.
He said that his party's stance was clear on the issue of the restoration of the deposed judges saying that PML-N is still on its previous position that they (judges) be reinstated according to the Murree Declaration. He also made it clear that his party could review its decision to rejoin the Federal Cabinet if the deposed judges were reinstated as per Murree Declaration. He was confident that after finalisation, the package would meet the expectations of the people, political parties, lawyer community, civil society organisations and the media.
