Accelerated and out of turn promotion and selection for in-service training/course would be given to the police officers who demonstrate exceptional performance and gallantry acts beyond the call of duty so as to encourage them.
It has been announced in a standing order issued by IGP NWFP Malik Naveed Khan to all heads of police officers in NWFP, said a press release issued here on Thursday. The order further said that a committee comprising of three officers not below the rank of DIG including DIG of the concerned region will recommend the case to promote out of turn such officers of junior ranks to the next higher rank up to inspector.
It further stated that the said committee shall ensure that only cases of exceptional performance, bravery and devotion are recommended and the ordinary/routine cases are avoided. The order further explained that such promotions shall be treated as adhoc and will be regularised when the officers so promoted have successfully qualified the prescribed training and their names shall be placed at the bottom of promotion list drawn up for that year.
The IGP may select such officers out of turn for such a prescribed course, the order further revealed. It has been stated that a police officer of junior rank (up-to inspector) receiving the award of Quaid-i-Azam medal and president police medal shall be prompted in the first available substantive vacancy of the next higher rank up to inspector which occurs in the district in which such officer is serving.
The order further stated that the promotion of those who received these medals would be done automatically without the proceedings of the committee. This order will come into force with immediate effect.
