Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) spokesman Siddiqul Farooque has denied that the PML-N is using ex-servicemen to press its demand for impeachment and court martial of President Pervez Musharraf on allegations of damaging the national interest and institutions.
Talking to Business Recorder on telephone, Farooque argued that every patriotic and conscientious Pakistani, including the ex-servicemen was demanding impeachment and court martial of General Pervez Musharraf (Retd) and reinstatement of judges on pre-November 3, 2007 position.
"Not all these people are necessarily supporters of the PML-N,"he said. He said that retired generals and senior army officers held meetings of Ex-servicemen societies in Lahore and Rawalpindi on their own and passed resolutions due to Musharraf's policies, Pakistan had been damaged a lot which was a tangible reason for his impeachment and court martial.
Farooque, whose party heads the coalition government in the country's biggest province, said the PML-N did not accept Pervez Musharraf as an elected President, however, Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif would have working relations with the office of the President under the ambit of the constitution.
Farooque alleged that Musharraf was the most incapable and unscrupulous dictator of Pakistan who had weakened the country politically, economically, and socially by killing people like Akbar Bugti and innocent children in Lal Masjid and Fata.
