The Deputy Speaker, National Assembly (NA), Faisal Karim Kundi on Saturday announced equipping the lower house of the Parliament with latest technology to ensure its maximum electronic coverage.
He said this to newsmen after holding a meeting with the Senior Minister, North West Frontier Province (NWFP), Rahimdad Khan. Kundi also announced giving access to telecast the live proceedings of the National Assembly to around 100 independent channels besides the state run media. He said that PTV was already airing live question-answer sessions of the National Assembly and efforts were on to provide access to private TV channels as well.
To a question, he said that standing committees have been constituted in the first session of the assembly while their chairmen would be named soon. Further, Kundi stated that whenever the coalition government approves the proposed constitutional package, the assembly would ensure its passage.
The Deputy Speaker also said that he would remain neutral and ensure smooth running of the assembly proceedings without any political favouritism. However, he declined to comment on the proposed constitutional package and the reservations of the Pakistan Muslim League- Nawaz about it saying that he was not representing any particular party.
