Farmers prepare ABP for improving performance

64 Farmer Organisations (FOs) of Area Water Board/ LCC (W) Circle Faisalabad have prepared their Annual Business Plans for improving their performance (ABP). ABP would help in improving financial efficiency and transparency besides ensuring balance between income and expenditures.
Punjab Irrigation and Drainage Authority (Pida) Deputy Director told here on Saturday. FOs have also established their standing committees to carry out different functions. Likewise, allocation of offices to FOs has been completed and Irrigation and Power Department staff has been attached with the FOs. He said that condition survey of canals has been jointly carried out by the staff of Pida, FOs and I&P Department.
The spokesman further told that financial support of Rs 2.5 million has been provided to FOs on irrigation management transfer (IMT) unit basis for furniture fixture, stationery and emergent repairs of channels etc and FOs made subsequent arrangements. LCC (W) Circle has 1,126,334 acres of Culturable Command Area and an amount of Rs 73.14 million was collected as Abiana for Kharif 2007 crop by FOs showing 91 percent overall collection while 16 FOs showed 100 percent collection for the Kharif crop, he concluded.
