The second phase of the Intermediate Annual Examinations 2008 of the Board of Intermediate Education Karachi (BIEK) will begin from Tuesday (June 10). This was announced by the Chairman of the BIEK, Anwar Ahmed Zai, on Monday.
He said that in this phase, the examinations of the Arts Group would be conducted and as many as 54,085 candidates - both regular and private, will appear at 65 examinations centres in various parts of the metropolis. The BIEK Chairman further stated that the admit cards of the regular candidates have been dispatched to their respective colleges and those of the private candidates at their given home addresses.
As many as 11 vigilance teams have been formed to monitor the examination process.
The BIEK chief pointed out that in the first phase of the examinations of the Pre-Engineering, Pre-Medical, Home Economics and Science General groups have been completed. As many as 77,662 candidates appeared in these examinations at some 89 centres in the metropolis.
The examinations of Commerce Group (regular and private) started from May 13 have also been completed and the total number of candidates in this group was 72,960. The total number of candidates appearing in the intermediate examinations this year, will be 215,000, which is a record number, it was further stated. Section 144 has been declared in the jurisdiction of the examination centres and the photo copy machines in the vicinity will also remain shut. The papers will be conducted from 2pm to 5pm on weekdays and on Friday from 4pm to 6pm.
