Pakistan Muslim League-N Spokesman Ahsan Iqbal said that there is a lot of difference in the situation of 1988 and the present one, as now both the parties have jointly struggled against dictatorship during the past eight years.
Talking to BBC radio, he said PML-N decided that the past rivalries between two parties would not be reopened as both have signed Charter of Democracy (CoD). When the judges were not restored, as promised in the Murree Declaration, PML-N quit the ministries, but it is still going along with the government despite some reservations for the sake of democracy and to stabilise the government, he said.
He said, appointment of Salmaan Taseer as the Governor Punjab is PPP's discretion. PML-N has already recorded reservation on it. It is PPP's choice to appoint a man of President's caretaker set up on governor's slot. He said that PPP and PML-N have their separate manifestos.
The collective interests for which both has to work jointly are above their party's interests. Both have to bury the drama once and for all being staged in Pakistan for the past sixty years. The provincial government will perform its duties to maintain law and order situation during the long march, he said. PML-N will overwhelmingly participate in the lawyers' long march, he added.
