11 Jun, 2008

Pakistan Gems and Jewellery Development Company (PGJDC) has organised a Computer Aided Jewellery Designing (CAD/CAM) Course at Gems and Jewellery Training and Manufacturing Centre in Lahore. The course that started on Tuesday would continue for one month and is being conducted by Zeeshan Anwar (Mechanical Engineering, (UET).
This Computer Aided Jewellery Designing Course which is being attended by 5 female and 15 male participants from the field would provide a guideline for improving computerised jewellery designing.
The course would share what is involved in the process of designing from beginning a job to working with database, creating 2d designs, creating 3D objects from 2D objects, creating loops for pendants, creating rings, completing the menus and different trips and tricks. CAD/CAM a state of the art jewellery manufacturing technology has been introduced in Pakistan for the first time by Pakistan Gems and Jewellery Development Company (PGJDC).
Introduction of CAD/CAM technology is one of the biggest milestones in the gems and jewellery industry. It is one of the first steps towards elevating mechanisation and industrialisation in the sector. The machines operate on international standards functioning with three different types of world class softwares.
The basic idea for introducing CAD/CAM technology by PGJDC is to facilitate the local industry and manufacturers with highly mechanised manufacturing enabling the manufacturers to be competitive in locally and internationally by producing high quality jewellery with maximum output in minimum turn around time. Keeping in view the demand from the industry PGJDC decided to organise this one-month Computer Aided Jewellery Designing Course in Lahore.
By organising training workshops on different subjects of gemology and jewellery PGJDC aims to upgrade skills by imparting knowledge about the new developments and techniques to the existing work force.-PR
