Rs 26.7 billion for public order and safety affairs

The government has allocated Rs 26.7 billion in budget 2008-09 for public order and safety affairs with an increase of 2.54 percent over Rs 26.10 billion for outgoing fiscal year for the deteriorating law and order situation in the country.
According to the budget for next fiscal year an amount of Rs 960 million has been allocated for law courts which is just 3.78 percent more than the allocation of Rs 925 million for current fiscal year.
An amount of Rs 25.029 billion for police which is hardly 2.60 percent more from current fiscal year''s allocation of Rs 24.393 billion. While an allocation of Rs 74 million has been earmarked in next fiscal year for Fire Protection which too is only 5.71 percent more from Rs 70 million allocation of outgoing fiscal year.
