Riaz for installing gauges at all canals

Complaint Cell of Irrigation and Power (I&P) Department has disposed of 1478 complaints out of the total 4761 complaints received by May 31st from farmers and other stakeholders. The cell also resolved 4330 other complaints within the stipulated period of time.
This was stated by Senior Minister and minister for Irrigation Raja Riaz Ahmad during a meeting of I&P Department. He directed the irrigation officers to timely solve the problems faced by the farming community; adding that the farmers coming to the Irrigation offices for the disposal of their problems should be accommodated accordingly.
The website of I&P department should also be updated timely, he urged. The meeting was told that the water gauges are used for measuring the flow of water in canals. Raja Riaz observed that gauges should be installed at all canals for measuring the flow of water.
The meeting also reviewed flood protection arrangements. Raja Riaz directed the Chief Engineer Flood to make best possible arrangements for the flood protection and asked him to launch campaign for the removal of encroachments at the canals embankments. The meeting proposed that posts of computer operators be created in the canal zones for timely sending necessary data to the head office.
