Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif in a meeting with senior journalists at Chief Minister House here said that provincial government in its maiden budget would give special emphasis on portfolios of health, education, and law and order.
Speaking about 'lawyers march', he said the PML-N was fully participating in it and the notion that it was non-serious on it was incorrect. Speaking on the issue of restoration of judges, Shahbaz said that leading party PPP and PML-N only had a difference on the mode of restoration. He said they were fully supportive of independence of judiciary, however, they were against beseige of parliament by the lawyers.
Referring to the restoration of judiciary, the chief minister said that with the consent of parties at this juncture, a new formula for solution to the issue could be evolved.
Referring to Kalabagh dam, he said they were in favour of this project, however, due to reservations of provinces of Sindh and NWFP, the issue had become political. Referring to the President, he said he has friendship with him, but due to principle differences have emerged between them.
Shahbaz said the Punjab government had abolished 'Self Finance Scheme' in medical college. This would support entry of eligible, deserving students in these institutions, he pointed. He said instructions had been issued to ensure law & order during long march of lawyers in the province. Speaking about establishing of coalition government at center and Punjab he said it was unique experiment.
