The number of price magistrates would be increased and the relevant laws would be amended for bringing stability in the prices of essential items. This was stated by Chairman Chief Minister's Task Force on Essential Items and Administrator Food Stamp Scheme, S.A. Hameed, while presiding over a meeting of DCOs of Lahore, Okara, Kasur, Gujranwala, Narowal. Nankanasahib, Mandi Bahauddin, Hafizabad, Gujrat and Sialkot.
He said that on the special instructions of Chief Minister Punjab Mian Shahbaz Sharif a strategy has been evolved to check the quality of essential items and ensure their smooth supply at reasonable rates to the people. He said that a comprehensive system of monitoring of prices would also be introduced.
He instructed the DCOs to take effective measures to improve the conditions of Sunday Bazars in their respective districts and send him weekly report in this regard.
He said that prices of commodities in Sunday Bazars should be substantially lowered than the open market. In order to check the prices and quality of essential items he would personally visit Sunday Bazars in different districts, he added.
