Zardari says lease for KPC before August 14

While the Karachi Press Club (KPC) would get a long pending lease before August 14, the Sindh government would soon allot plots to new members of the club. The assurances came from the Pakistan People's Party (PPP) co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari who visited the KPC on Thursday to what he said thank the journalists for supporting his party's struggle in restoration of democracy in the country.
Zardari was accompanied by Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah, Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad Khan, Minister for Information Shazia Marri, Home Minister Dr Zulfiqar Mirza, Education Minister Peer Mazharul Haq, Law Minister Ayaz Soomro, Makhdoom Jamil-uz-Zaman and other members of Sindh Cabinet.
"The issue of KPC lease would be resolved before August 14 while plots would be allotted to new members of the club as soon as a piece of land is located," Najeeb Ahmed President KPC quoted the PPP co-chairman as saying. Najeeb said Sindh Chief Minister and Governor would again visit the Club shortly and make a crucial announcement on allotment of plots to the new members.
Earlier, Zardari during a short meeting with the KPC office bearers announced that the journalists would soon get the ownership of their club in the face of a lease. On this occasion, Education Minister Pir Mazharul Haq announced that the KPC lease matter would be decided before August 14, 2008.
