A senior office bearer of the All Pakistan Women's Association (APWA) has hailed the federal budget for the fiscal 2008-09. Talking to APP here on Thursday, Yasmin Dastur, APWA's Vice-president, Human Resource and Administration, described this as a balanced budget.
She appreciated the measures such as announcement of 10 percent quota for women in all departments, Rs 34 billion Benazir Bhutto Income Support Programme as well the schemes for women in the health and education sectors.
However, Yasmin was of the view that there should be strict monitoring so as to ensure that only the genuine and targeted segments of the society are benefited from all such measures. She was also appreciative of the austerity measures that have been announced in the budget.
