The Director General (DG), National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Sindh, Colonel Khurshid Alam (Retd) has said that dispensation of social justice and delivering legal rights are the NAB's basic responsibilities. He was speaking at a ceremony held for the distribution of allotment orders among Mehran City victims here on Tuesday.
He added that it is the duty NAB to redress the grievances of deprived class of the society. M/s Tasman Construction Company started Mehran City Project in 1993 whereby 2,445 bungalows and houses of various categories were to be constructed and Rs 14 million were recovered from people thereof, so far no work have not done at the site.
Initially people approached administration and concerned organisations, when they did not get satisfactory answer, resultantly they approached NAB. In this connection NAB conducted through inquiry and directed the project management to provide houses/plots to the clients from whom they had collected money. With efforts by NAB, proprietary rights were handed over to 256 victims through the Governor of Sindh while 250 remaining people were handed the ownership rights at a seminar. Moreover, the recipients appreciated the NAB's efforts.
