Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani on Tuesday said that federal and provincial governments presented budgets that ensured maximum relief to the masses in the given circumstance. He stated this while talking to reporters after having meeting with Punjab Chief Minister Mian Shahbaz Sharif at State Guest House here.
The Prime Minister observed: "We wish to give everything to our people but in the given economic situation of the country, we have tried our best to ensure maximum relief to them in the budget." To a question, he said both the major ruling coalition parties were committed to the issue pertaining to restoration of deposed judges. "PPP Co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari and PML-N Chief Mian Nawaz Sharif are holding a meeting on Wednesday to discuss the proposed constitutional package," he added.
To another query, Gilani dispelled the impression about any rift in the coalition of PPP and PML-N. "There should be no doubts about our alliance, which is very much intact", he maintained. The premier told the reporters that he had formally congratulated Shahbaz Sharif on his election as Chief Minister, who apprised him about the ongoing developmental projects in the province. "I am glad that Punjab Government took a number of initiatives and made allocations in its annual budget for the well being of common man," he asserted.
