The strongman of ruling Pakistan People's Party, Asif Ali Zardari on a 10-day trip will visit Greece, Egypt and Turkey as soon as the Federal Budget for 2008-09 gets approved, official sources told Business Recorder on Saturday. Sources said that Zardari will attend a two-day conference of Socialist International in Greece on 28th and 29th June 2008.
Later, he will travel to Cairo to address a three-day investment seminar organised by Pakistan business community in Egypt. Sources also said that Zardari will pay a three-day visit to Turkey starting from July 4, 2008 on an invitation by the Foreign Ministry of Turkey, where he will meet Turkish leadership, businessmen and investors in order to increase bilateral trade and economic co-operation.
Since the PPP has been out of power for twelve long years and also lost its charismatic, experienced and worldclass leader, Benazir Bhutto, Zardari has decided to act more efficiently on the national and international scenes.
Political observers maintained that the new crop of the PPP leaders / ministers, who stayed in the opposition during much of their political life, would take long time to get sufficient experience / training to deal with the complex economic, strategic and foreign policy problems of the country. Zardari, known to the world as the widower of one of the well-famed personality, received almost two-decade training from his spouse to interact with the world leaders.
