Arsenal defender Gael Clichy has signed a new long-term contract with the Premier League club. Clichy, 22, has been rewarded for an outstanding season with the Gunners that saw him voted into the PFA's Premier League team of the Year.
The left-back was being tracked by Serie A clubs Roma and Juventus but Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has moved quickly to stop the Frenchman being tempted away from the Emirates Stadium. "Arsenal Football Club is delighted to announce that Gael Clichy has signed a new long term contract with the Club," a statement on the Arsenal website confirmed. "Everyone at the Club is looking forward to Gael's continued contribution in the forthcoming years."
