A total of 25 candidates are on the run to contest by-elections against three vacant seats in Balochistan Assembly. The Election Commission of Pakistan has finalised arrangements for holding the by-polls on June 26 in the province, the Provincial Election Commission sources told APP.
There are total of 65 seats (51 general seats and 14 reserved seats including three for minorities and 11 for women) in BA. Out of 65 seats, three seats have fallen vacant in the House. One seat PB-44 Lasbella-I had fallen vacant when Jam Muhammad Yousuf, who won the seats of Balochistan and National Assemblies and later, preferred to be member of National Assembly when his struggle for regaining the slot of chief minister could not be fruitful.
The second vacant seat PB-9 Pishin-II fell vacant when winning candidate of the constituency Malik Sarwar Khan Kakar of PML-Q died due to cardiac arrest. The third seat PB-32 Jhal Magsi became vacant when Nawab Zulfiqar Ali Magsi had been appointed as Governor Balochistan on February 27 last. There are seven candidates in ring to contest by-elections for PB-44 Lasbella-I. They include Abdul Qadir Gilani, Shaikh Ghulam Akbar, Ghulam Sarwar Ronjho, Ghulam Akbar Lasi, Gul Muhammad Umrani, Muhammad Qasim Ronjho and Maulana Muhammad Umar Adil.
The number of registered voters are 83185 including 45546 men and 37639 women in the constituency. The Election Commission has planned to establish 90 polling stations and 192 polling booths for PB-44 Lasbella-I. 90 Presiding officers, 192 assistant presiding officers and 192 polling officers will perform their duties on by-polls day, on June 26. The District and Sessions Judge Lasbella has been appointed as DRO for the constituency.
A total of 15 candidates will contest by polls for PB-9 Pishin-II. The contenders include Ajmal Khan, Asfand Yar Khan, Sajjad Haider Panezai, Syed Bahaw-ud-Din Shah, Ameer Muhammad Kakar, Dr Gohar Ejaz, Shakil Ahmed, ex-minister Abdul Wahid Siddiqi, Fareed Ahmed, Muhammad Hanif Kakar, Muhammad Rasool, Muhammad Naseem Khan Kakar, Mufti Abdul Majid and Baz Muhammad Khan Kakar.
The total number of registered voters are 64996 including 29814 men and 35182 women in PB-9 Pishin-II constituency. The Election Commission will establish 64 polling stations and 140 polling booths for the constituency on by-elections day. It has appointed 64 presiding officers, 140 assistant presiding officers, and 140 polling officers for the elections day. The DCO Pishin has been appointed as DRO for the constituency.
Three candidates are in the ring to contest for PB 32 Jhal Magsi including Nawabzada Tariq Khan Magsi, Muhammad Baqa Rind and Muhammad Saif. The number of registered voters are 73215 including 36616 men and 36599 women in PB 32 Jhal Magsi constituency. The ElectionCommission has planned to establish 50 polling stations and 128 polling booths for PB-32 constituency. 50 presiding officers, 128 assistant presiding officers and 128 polling officers will perform their duties on by-polls day, on June 26. The DCO Jhal Magsi has been appointed as DRO for the constituency.
