Grams prices were sharply higher on the grain market on Tuesday as profit takers started hoarding the commodities for more gains, dealers said. Some market analysts said that in fact, some trades were trying the store the commodities ahead of Ramazan.
The prices of most of the essentials have gone up and it is not clear that how far prices will rise or when the rates will stabilise because common man is fed up and waiting for good times, they said.
On the grams side, gram garda Punjab low type was up Rs 150 to Rs 4300 and better type was higher by Rs 100 to Rs 4500. Gram dal Punjab went up sharply by Rs 300 to Rs 5500-5800. Yellow peas dal Canada followed suit and rose by Rs 50 to Rs 4150 and Rs 4250, beetle chana No 1 was higher by Rs 300 to Rs 4600-4700, beetle dal No 1 rose by Rs 300 to Rs 4500-4800 and dal beetle plus Rs 400 to Rs 5600-5900, they said.
On the rice sector, only one change was seen in the prices of Irri-6 Sindh, losing Rs 50 to Rs 3600, they added. A solo variation was also seen on the seed side, castorseed Lasbela gained Rs 25 to Rs 1175, other items held the overnight levels, they said.
