All set for holding by-elections in 16 districts today

The stage is set for holding free, fair and transparent by-elections to national and provincial assemblies constituencies in 16 districts, nearly half of the Punjab province on June 26 today (Thursday). Public holiday is being observed today in all the respective constituencies Polling would continue from 9 am to 5 pm without any break.
In PP-219 Multan, 127 polling stations have been established for 125,079 voters. In PP-243 Dera Ghazi Khan, 150,198 voters would cast their votes on 102 polling stations.
In PP-219 Jahania, 9 candidates are contesting in this constituency but the real competition is between Karam Dad Wahla and Mureed Hussain Qureshi, brother of Foreign Minister Makhdoom Shah Mehmood Qureshi.
Shah Makhdoom is running the election campaign of his brother from the last couple of days and he has met with different dignitaries of the city who have assured them their full support.
The voters of PML-N would play an important role in these by-polls. Some are supporting Mureed Hussain Qureshi while the son-in-law of Makhdoom Javed Hashmi, Zahid Bihar Hashmi is supporting Karam Dad Wahla. Police along with the extra police constabulary force have been deployed on the polling stations to keep the polling fair and transparent.
