Peace and prosperity

The Middle East and South Asian Regions in particular are teetering on the brink of catastrophe, unless wiser councils prevail. Powers of doom and destruction are poised for a final assault on humanity. The mad rush towards war in order to grab the oil resources of the Middle East, is the only plausible reason for the current economic instability and turmoil around the world.
Then there are other compulsions, for instance, scarcity of resources like water, food, and shelter for the burgeoning population of the globe, now bursting at its seams as the humans approach a 7-billion mark. The struggle or greed for control of resources gives rise to people like Adolf Hitler, Benito Mussolini, General Tojo of WWII fame, or George Bush, Tony Blair and Ehud Olmert of our own age.
They fabricated pretexts to over-run other people's territories, with the real objective of grabbing resources, whether they be oil, water, land, markets or sources of cheap labour. There is little difference between Hitler's quest for lebensraum and Israeli rush for building settlements in the occupied territories of Palestine, or Mussolini over-running North Africa for colonisation, and George Bush's grab for oil, in the garb of war for prevention of WMD, or spread of terror. Tojo conquered the entire South and East Asia, and attacked Pearl Harbor.
He was only subdued after atomic bombs were dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. That first use of nuclear power by USA unleashed a fury of overt and covert mad rush for acquiring atom bombs, hydrogen bombs, neutron bombs and chemical weapons of mass destruction, that goes on even today, 63 years after the end of WWII. How many limited or massive conflicts have devastated vast tracts of territories, starting with Palestine, Korea, Vietnam, Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, Lebanon, Bosnia, Albania, Chechnya, Afghanistan, Sudan, Eritrea and so many others.
Then there were wars of liberation like Algeria, Indonesia and elsewhere. All this bloodshed and devastation failed to teach a lesson to the rapacious nature of mankind. Actually the ferocity of war and mass destruction has intensified the cruel nature of the power-hungry, and all traces of decent humanitarianism and love and tolerance towards other human beings have simply evaporated in thin air.
There are few exceptions of true humanists in this mad world now. Every other kid now dreams of being another George Bush, Moshe Dayan or Saddam Hussein. Then of course, there is al Qaeda and other terrorist outfits, let loose after being nurtured by USA and other Western powers with money, materials and training for their own ulterior motives.
How to put these genies back into the bottle, boggles the human mind. The assorted furies now threaten the entire mankind and the only way to deter and subjugate them is through a message of peace and prosperity, away from death and destruction of war.
That message was, and still is, the basic tenet of Islam - the religion of peace, and the message of our Holy Prophet, the Messenger of Peace for the entire Universe (PBUH). To universalise that message and spread the light of true faith in the dark lands, hearts and minds of the unbelievers is the true task ahead and the mission for all God loving creatures.
